Flipback is operated by Pure Wonderful, LLC. Flipback is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your photos never leave your device. The app has no accounts, no analytics and no crash reporting: we collect nothing from it, and we don't collect your name, email, or contact info in the app.
Photos: Flipback requests access to your photo library to show you three photos a day from your own library. Photos are never uploaded, transmitted, or shared with anyone. We do not store, copy, or back up your photos anywhere off your phone. To have tomorrow's photos ready, the app keeps a few screen-size copies on your phone, excluded from backups.
On-Device Analysis: Flipback uses Apple's Vision framework to analyze your photos locally on your device, including face detection, to choose the three photos you see each day. No photos, facial data, image data, or analysis results ever leave your device.
Camera and Microphone (only if you ask): Flipback can record your reaction to the day's photos as a video you can share. The camera and microphone are used only after you tap Record and allow access, and only while that recording runs. The video is made on your phone and removed from the app when you close its preview. Flipback never uploads it: if you share it, it goes through the iOS share sheet to the app you choose, and that app's policy applies from there. If you never tap Record, the camera and microphone are never used and never asked for.
Nothing from the app. Flipback 5.6 and later contain no analytics, no crash reporting and no other data collection of any kind. Versions before 5.6 used Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics for anonymous usage data and crash reports; if you are on an earlier version, updating removes that.
Hearts: When you heart a photo, Flipback keeps the list of hearted photos (their identifiers, not the photos) in your own iCloud account, so your hearts come back if you reinstall. Only you can access it; we can't see it.
Catball: The app's cover carries a link to Catball, another app from Flipback's creator. Tapping it opens hicatball.com inside Flipback; Flipback sends nothing about you with it, and hicatball.com's own privacy policy applies to that page.
Our website (flipback.co) uses Google Analytics in cookieless mode to collect anonymous usage data such as page views, referral sources, and device type. No cookies are stored on your device and no personal information is collected.
If you sign up for our Android waitlist on our website, we collect your email address solely to notify you when an Android version becomes available. We will not sell, share, or use your email for any other purpose, except in the event of an acquisition or merger where your email may be transferred to the new owner. You can request removal at any time by emailing hi@flipback.co.
If a photo contains location metadata, Flipback sends the coordinates to Apple's geocoding service to display a place name. We do not receive, store, or have access to your location data.
Flipback does not require user accounts. This means there are no credentials to steal and no personal profiles stored on our servers.
Flipback is not intended for children under 13.
